Garlic Herb Smoked Whole Chicken Recipe
in the Muurikka Electric Smoker
3/4 cup apple wood chips
1 Whole chicken (1.5kg and halved)
1 tspn pepper
1 tspn garlic salt
1 tspn garlic powder
1 tspn cayenne pepper
1 tspn paprika
1 tspn black pepper
1 tspn crushed pepper flakes
½ tspn dried thyme
½ tspn dried oregano
In a medium sized bowl, mix together all the dry ingredients.
Rub the seasoning over the chicken and cover with plastic wrap and place in the refrigerator for an hour.
Prepare your Electric Smoker:
Remove the chicken from the refrigerator and place on the grill tray and insert into the smoker.
Roast the chicken for 25 minutues (without the wood chips).
Meanwhile, prepare apple wood chips and then insert into the smoker.
Cook for another 40 minutes or until chicken is ready.
Remove from the smoker, cover with foil for roughly 10 minutes.
Serve with your favourite side dish.
Note: Apple wood chips can be purchased from any major BBQ stores Australia wide.
