DIFFERENT TYPES of WOOD CHIPS create DISTINCT smokey flavours in the Muurikka Electric Smoker.
What types of wood chips should I use in an Electric Smoker?
From experience we have learnt that it’s best to use fruit and nut wood chips to add smokey flavours to smoked meat, chicken, fish, vegetables and cheese.
Please note that you should never use pine wood for smoking food as it creates a bitter taste.
Treated woods should also be avoided, including sawdust.
Wood chip Tips in the Muurikka Electric Smoker
As soon as the wood chips are inserted into the Electric Smoker and it is turned on, the meat will begin to seal and the smokey flavours will get to work.
This means that you only need roughly 15 - 20 minutes of cooking time with the wood chips to create your desired smokey flavours.
For a stronger, smokey flavour, increase the amount of wood chips in the food smoker.
You can soak the wood chips before hand for 1/2 hour - 1 hour OR you can simply water them down before use.
